Depending on its intensity and the context of its occurrence, a single seizure can have profound social and medical consequences for patients and can strongly affect their quality of life. In the case of NTIs, one single dose omission can result in a seizure and lead to preventable adverse events. Detailing the costs associated with non-adherence to anti-seizure medication and the limited room for maneuver that NTIs allow for adherence, Professor Pavel Klein demonstrates the double burden of this healthcare challenge and highlights the need for clinicians to support patients in their adherence efforts.
