The challenge and causes of non-adherence

This video is a recording of a session from a:care congress 2022.

Non-adherence to treatment is often seen as a negative behavior or is associated with forgetfulness. Professor Rob Horne demonstrates that patients behave a certain way in response to a variety of parameters, including their beliefs, emotions and perceptions about their disease and treatment. There are no good or bad behaviors – there are complex behaviors. Using examples of simple situations, Professor Horne invites us to let go of preconceptions and proposes a three-step approach to tailoring support to non-adherent patients to increase their motivation.

The video will help you understand the diverse reasons behind patients’ non-adherence and provide you with efficient ways to address this challenge in your clinical practice.
